An incident occurred in which all BTC held by the first core developer of Bitcoin was stolen by hacking
Luke Dashjr , one of Bitcoin's first core developers, revealed that nearly all of his Bitcoins were stolen as a result of a hack that occurred on December 31, 2022. He has asked the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and police to help with the recovery.

Dashjr revealed on his Twitter on January 2, 2023 that the Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) key was hacked and all of Dashjr's Bitcoins were stolen.

Dashjr's Bitcoin was stolen four times on December 31, 2022. The total damage amount is 216.93 BTC, which is about 3.6 million dollars (about 475 million yen) when converted to the rate at the time of article creation.
While Mr. Dashjr said, ``I don't know how it was hacked. It has been pointed out that looseness led to Bitcoin theft.

Cryptographer and engineer Nik Bougalis said, 'Secure cryptographic key management is very difficult even for experienced and trained people, and the industry as a whole needs to improve.'

In response to these incidents, Changpong Zhao, CEO of Binance, the largest cryptocurrency exchange, said, ``Binance's security team will monitor Dashjr's Bitcoins and freeze the assets if they are sent to Binance. ” and expresses support.

Mr. Dashjr has asked the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the police to help recover the stolen approximately 217 BTC, but has revealed that he has not received a response from the FBI or the police at this stage.
