Dell, which develops and sells computer equipment, has also revealed that it will reduce the number of employees, as major technology companies such as Google , Amazon , and Microsoft have announced job cuts one after another.
According to documents submitted by Dell to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Dell has announced organizational restructuring and behavioral reforms to its employees in order to make strategic and customer-oriented investments. The company plans to cut its workforce by about 5%. According to Dell's annual report submitted as of 2022, Dell has approximately 133,000 employees worldwide, so the reduction is expected to be approximately 6,600.
``Given the challenging global economic environment, we continue to be cautious,'' Dell said. Dell's stock fell 3.6% after the cut was announced and has fallen 31% over the past 12 months.
According to a survey report on global PC shipments released in the third quarter of 2022, PC shipments from major manufacturers, including Dell, Lenovo, and HP, have decreased by 15% year-on-year.
